Tamron AF 18-270mm F3.5 -6.3 Di II VC LD ASL

Thanks to Tamron's advanced optical/mechanical design technologies, production know-how and ongoing commitment to research and development as the pioneer in megazooms, Tamron developed the AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC the world's first 15X zoom for the exclusive use with digital SLR cameras. Its gigantic zoom range and its compactness make it the ideal travel zoom. Changing lenses is no longer necessary. Nor is bulky and heavy baggage filled with photographic equipment.

In order to ensure its compactness, the design builds on the successful concept of the popular AF 18-250mm F/3,5-6,3 Di II LD ASPHERICAL [IF] whilst simultaneously expanding the focal length to 270mm at the tele setting and building in an additional feature: Tamron's outstanding proprietary Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism, whose effectiveness and speed fascinate.

The VC unit consists of a tri-axial system that is designed to let three coils drive a compensator lens electromagnetically via three steel balls, resulting in low friction and fast performance. Since the compensator mechanism is driven solely by means of electrical control, the mechanical construction is simpler and more compact, so the lens can be kept as a small and light as possible.

The VC element is adjusted 4000 times a second in order to compensate for vibration, allowing a maximum advantage of 4-stops, allowing hand-held photography in situations where this was previously not possible.

The new AF18-270mm offers premium image quality and is compact and lightweight despite its 15x zoom. The zoom range is equal to 28-419mm when converted to full-size format.

Please note: Di II lenses are made for the exclusive use on digital SLR cameras with image sensors smaller than 24mm x16mm.
