Lonjsko Polje Nature Park tour

Relax to the ancient rhythm of Lonjsko Polje Nature Park. Nowhere else can you witness the kind of cultural life and heritage that, until the end of the 19th century, was still typical of many parts of Central Europe; a rare example of man and nature working in perfect harmony. With luck you may also see the white-tailed eagle, the lesser spotted eagle, the rare Posavina horse and the swimming Turoplje Pig. Why not stay in one of the traditional oak built farmsteads along the Sava river bordering Bosnia. Look closely and you will see that the nests of the white storks in Čigoć, a 'European Stork Village', are not balanced on chimneys as these old houses don't have any. Instead smoke comes out freely from under the roof area having the double effect of preserving the wooden construction whilst curing the favourite comestibles of the area - its hams, garlic and paprika sausages. Excellent fishing is also on offer later in the year for specimen carp, pike and catfish.
