Hurtig ruten, literally meaning 'fast route', will take you on an authentic coastal voyage through the calm, sheltered waters of Norway's breathtaking coastline. For over 100 years these working ships have linked isolated settlements of fishermen, miners, farmers and traders. Now you too can enjoy this wonderful experience as you sail through the beautiful fjords, visit UNESCO World Heritage sites, the North Cape, Trondheim the former Viking capital of Norway, the Art Nouveau port of Alesund and the idyllic Lofoten & Vesteralen Islands while you cross the Arctic Circle twice. Often described as 'the world's most beautiful voyage' this informal cruise, on board a working ship, will enable you to meet fellow passengers from around the world as well as locals going about their everyday business.
On the Classic Round Voyage you will fly to Bergen and spend 12 days on board visiting 34 ports as you sail to Kirkenes and back to Bergen from where you will fly home to London. On the 14th June departure you should be able to experience the fabulous Midnight Sun when the brilliant sunshine through the clear Arctic air bathes the shore, mountains and fjords in fire reds, soft pinks, and golden yellow.
If you choose the Discovery option (not available on the 14th June departure) you leave the ship, after 10 nights on board, in Trondheim where you spend one night before boarding the train for an unforgettable journey through stunning scenery on the scenic rail journey to Oslo. Stay two nights in Oslo, Norway's lively capital city, before flying home to London
